The Perfect Love / El Perfecto Amor

The Perfect Love.

Right now there is a lot of debate related to gay marriage. I know that this is a controversial subject and I do not claim to have an answer but I do want to share three things.

First, I know that God is love. The Bible says:

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8, NIV)

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34, NIV)

Second, that it is not my place to judge others. The Bible says:

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:1-2, NIV)

When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7, NIV)

Third, I believe that many people are afraid, maybe they are afraid of the unknown, but the perfect love that comes from God, casts out fear. 1 John 4:18 says:

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We all need God's love and that should be our message, a message of mercy and not condemnation, a message of peace and not of dispute,  a message of love and not of hate, a message of perfect love that comes from God.

El Perfecto Amor.

En estos momentos hay mucho debate acerca del matrimonio homosexual. Yo sé que esto es un tema controversial y sé que no tengo la respuesta, pero sí deseo compartir tres puntos.

Primero, Dios es amor. La Biblia dice:
Sobre todo, ámense los unos a los otros profundamente, porque el amor cubre multitud de pecados.
(1 Pedro 4:8)

Este mandamiento nuevo les doy: que se amen los unos a los otros. Así como yo los he amado, también ustedes deben amarse los unos a los otros.
(Juan 13:34)

Segundo, que yo no soy nadie para juzgar a otros. La Biblia dice:

No juzguen a nadie, para que nadie los juzgue a ustedes. 2 Porque tal como juzguen se les juzgará, y con la medida que midan a otros, se les medirá a ustedes.
Mateo 7:1-2

Pero como insistían en preguntar, Jesús se enderezó y les dijo: "El que de ustedes esté sin pecado, sea el primero en tirarle una piedra."
Juan 8:7

Tercero, creo que muchas personas sienten temor, tal vez a lo desconocido, pero el amor perfecto que proviene de Dios, echa afuera todo temor. La Biblia dice en 1 Juan 4:18:

En el amor no hay temor, sino que el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor; porque el temor lleva en sí castigo. De donde el que teme, no ha sido perfeccionado en el amor.

Lo que todos necesitamos es el amor de Dios y ese debe ser nuestro mensaje, un mensaje de misericordia y no de condenación, un mensaje de paz y no de pleitos, un mensaje de amor y no de odio, un mensaje sobre el perfecto amor que proviene de Dios.
